#GE13: Najib meets BN reps ahead of nomination day

While all eyes were on the Election Commission to announce the dates for the 13th general election, at the Putra World Trade Centre, Barisan Nasional chief Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak spoke to the coalition's elected representatives at a special briefing on Wednesday.

The meeting was held to re-emphasise the importance of unity and cohesion among the coalition's members to ensure a Barisan victory.

Najib told reporters after the closed-door meeting that forming a strong and viable government should be the ultimate objective of all Barisan members and it should not be about being selected as a candidate.

He said if the members "truly understand why general elections are held, they will not allow emotions to get in the way of the objective."

"That is the main reason this gathering," he told a press conference.

Najib added that Barisan's candidates list would be finalised and announced over the next few days.

He added that the coalition would be fielding several Barisan-friendly candidates in the general election.
