Penang police general election spokesman Assistant Commissioner Roslee Chik |
Three suspects detained over the blast at a Barisan Nasional ceramah in Nibong Tebal on April 23 were released on police bail late Sunday.
Penang police general election spokesman Assistant Commissioner Roslee Chik said the three, aged 25 to 41, were released a day before their remand expired Monday.
"Police have obtained valuable clues from the suspects and the investigation is still being conducted," he said when contacted Monday.
One of the suspects has a previous record for possession of explosive materials, he added.
During the 10.15pm incident, a Barisan worker was walking past a rubbish dump near a ceramah in Taman Jawi Jaya when an explosion occurred, injuring him with plastic shrapnel.
Police also found a second unexploded device at the site.
