The Barisan Nasional has come out with a state manifesto for Perak that addresses issues ranging from the environment and the well-being of the orang asli to job opportunities and affordable housing.
The 80 pledges made in the AkuJanji for Perak are additions to those in the Barisan's national manifesto, said state chief Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.
“These are not candies for the people but realistic promises which we can fulfil,” he told reporters after launching the state manifesto at Taman Perindustrian IKS here yesterday.
“These are in addition to those announced by the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) at the national level as we want to add another dimension for Perak folk,” he said.
Dr Zambry said the state manifesto - with the theme “Fulfilling Promises, Bringing Hope, Barisan Nasional For You” - focuses on creating better governance such as ensuring justice for all and making the civil service more effective. The pledges include the planting of one million trees, creating 50,000 job opportunities, creating a tax-free area for Pangkor, providing 15,000 housing lots for the public and community business centres and an additional RM3mil from the state government to support orang asli community activities.
