#LahadDatu: Zahid Hamidi: Security forces’ spirits still high

The security forces have shown strong commitment in carrying out their duties, said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

“Despite being on the ground for more than a month, their spirits remain high,” he said.

The Government, he said, would continue to monitor media reports from the Philippines about the involvement of certain Opposition politicians in the Lahad Datu incident.

“We believe that more information will be exposed about their involvement in the conflict,” he said after announcing the financial results of Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera here yesterday.

Zahid Hamidi also said the Philippine media should not publish conflicting reports on the situation in Sabah.

“We do not want certain media reports to affect the good ties between Malaysia and the Philippines,” he said.

He said that a permanent security camp would be set up in Lahad Datu to monitor the situation after Ops Daulat ended.

The operations of the camp would then be taken over by the Malaysian Enforcement Maritime Agency, the National Security Council and police.
