IPOH: A couple’s accusation of abuse against each other is being investigated after both lodged police reports at the Sungai Senam police station here on Monday.
This came days after three CCTV recordings went viral on the social networking website, Facebook, allegedly showing the husband assaulting his two months pregnant wife.
The videos, uploaded on Aug 30 and 31, garnered sympathy as over 18,000 Facebook users shared it from the 19-year-old wife’s profile. Perak CID chief SAC Datuk Dzuraidi Ibrahim said the victim’s father, who had lodged a police report on Aug 23, just wanted the police to warn the husband.
“This is a family dispute,” he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code.
“The victim and her husband had opened a boutique but interference by the woman’s family in their business and lives has caused some misunderstanding,” he said yesterday.
Ipoh Timur MCA division chief Datuk Thong Fah Chong said the division was ready to help the victim with their legal team.
A check on the victim’s profile revealed that she was looking for a lawyer.
The husband lodged a report to deny his wife’s claims that he had abused her and instead asserted that she had abused him.
Efforts to contact the husband failed, however his Facebook profile updates included posts stating that he was badly wounded and has lodged a police report.
