IPOH: The police have detained six people in connection with the murder-cum-robbery involving a security van in Taiping and recovered RM571,100 of the RM1.2mil that was lost after the incident.
State Police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan said police found the money when they raided houses in Kulim, Kedah, and George Town, Penang, on Friday.
“We believe the money seized may be from the robbery,” he said yesterday. He added that the police were still locating the remainder.
DCP Mohd Shukri said a 47-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were also detained during the raid.
He said police later arrested two other men and two women at a petrol station in Seberang Jaya in Penang.
Of the six people, one was believed to be directly involved with the case while the others were believed to be accomplices.
About RM1.2mil was reported missing when Safeguards Malaysia Sdn Bhd's security van driver Hasnul Hafis Saad, 28, was found shot dead in the vehicle in Aulong, Taiping, last Tuesday.
DCP Mohd Shukri said the police were still looking for Mohd Hafizuddin Zainal Abidin (pic), 23, to help assist in investigations.
He said Mohd Hafizuddin had been working as a route planner for the security firm for the last two years.
