The National Security Council has given out RM500 as aid to 1,235 flood victims from 276 families here under the Natural Disaster Fund.
Tepoh state assemblyman Ramli Nuh said the victims were placed in six flood relief centres and had registered with the Welfare Department.
“The victims now have to wait for the Welfare Department to assess their damage. Since it will take some time, I urge the flood victims to remain calm.
“I am sure the assistance will reach the victims once the Welfare Department has verified the details,” he said after meeting trainees of Institut Latihan Perindustrian Kuala Terengganu here yesterday.
He added that the people of Terengganu were very lucky as the state government had also given out aid to flood victims, besides the assistance provided by the Federal Government.
“In Tepoh alone, we have distributed aid amounting to RM300,000 to 2,807 students from 1,856 families.”
