A total of 692 children with heart-related diseases have received aid to undergo surgery between 2006 and November last year under the National Heart Institute Foundation Patient Assistance Programme (YIJN).
YIJN manager Ritzzawati Rosli Mohd Rosli said this was made possible through contributions from several sources, including NGOs and individuals.
“Every year, the foundation spends an average of RM2mil to finance the cost of treatment for poor patients,” she said when met at the launch of a music album, Gustav and Hannes here yesterday.
The album is an initiative by couple Christian Schwanz and Haanim Bamadhaj to help the foundation collect funds.
It was made in memory of one of their twins, three-week-old Gustav, who died of a heart ailment in 2011.
