KUALA LUMPUR: A young boy, who was believed to have been a victim of long-term physical abuse, died after he was brought to hospital late last month.
Police are now trying to trace the identity of the boy and his family to establish how he was abused to death.
City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Ku Chin Wah said police were alerted after the boy was brought to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital (HUKM) on Saturday.
“We were informed that the boy was brought to the hospital’s emergency room at about 8.15am by two women and a man in a car,” he told a press conference at the city police headquarters yesterday.
He said a nurse helped the women carry the boy out of the vehicle.
“The boy was already unconscious,” he said, adding that the senders drove off after that.
SAC Ku said the boy was pronounced dead shortly after.
“The boy had partially-healed scars all over his body, indicating he had been a victim of long-term abuse.
“A post-mortem revealed he died of blunt force trauma to the abdomen,” he said, adding that police tried to get a description of the women from the nurse, but to no avail.
He said the case had been classified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
SAC Ku urged anyone with information on the boy or his family to contact 03-2115 9999 or the nearest police station.
