KUALA LUMPUR: British American Tobacco Malaysia (BAT Malaysia) has announced a 20 sen increase on the prices of all its cigarette packs effective today.
“We were officially informed by the Royal Malaysian Customs on Thursday of a mandated rise in the ex-factory pricing of our cigarettes of between 26% and 58% effective Friday, Oct 19, 2012.”
“The consequence is that excise and sales tax payable has increased,” said BAT Malaysia managing director William Toh in a statement.
He said that with the increase, Dunhill will now be priced at RM10.20, Kent at RM10.20, Peter Stuyvesant at RM8.70, Pall Mall at RM8.70, Pall Mall Plain (RM10.60), Benson & Hedges (RM10.20), Lucky Strike Plain (RM10.60) and Rothmans International (RM10.60).
