Mum calls for justice over death of bullied son

MALACCA: The mother of 14-year-old bully victim K. Saravannan, who was killed by a gang of schoolboys at the Tampin Bus Terminal last week, is crying out for justice.

“My son may have been naughty at times, but he was a good boy,” a distraught N. Malar, who is staying with her elder sister at a rented home in Taman Rembia Setia in Alor Gajah, told Datuk Mohd Nardin Awang after the political secretary of Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin presented her with cash aid yesterday.

“I want those responsible for my only child's death to face the severest penalty,” she said.

Saravannan was waiting for a bus with a friend on the second floor of bus terminal in Alor Gajah when schoolboys confronted him. They started kicking and stomping on him.

There had been arguments between the Form Two student and the group before, who had often mocked Saravannan's style of walking.

A crowd of some 30 just stood by and watched the attack.

Saravannan succumbed to brain and spinal injuries on the way to hospital.
