Hishammuddin in Britain for security talks

Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein is currently leading a delegation of senior officials to Britain for talks on security.

The visit, aimed at strengthening security relations between Malaysia and the UK within the ambit of an MoU signed in the Field of Transnational Crime, focuses on cyber crime, human trafficking and the social media, among others.

“This is to ensure that positive outcomes could be derived by both sides, particularly the enforcement agencies through such strategic cooperation,” said a ministry statement yesterday.

It said that discussion on other areas of cooperation for 2013 and later between Malaysia and Britain would take place during the working visit. It began on Monday and ends today.

Hishammuddin met key figures, including experts within the British security fraternities as well as fulfilling invitations extended by the General Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
