Stress Management Tips

All stress isn’t bad. Stress can initiate change, help us focus on the task at hand, and in some cases even save our lives. Yet, when stress builds up, it can result in the opposites— and cause us to spin our wheels, keep us from concentrating, and cause bodily injury and even loss of life.

The first tip in managing stress is to recognize your stressors. The next step is to put each of them in their place. The following stress management tips, based on some old and some new adages, can help you do just that!

Take a Deep Breath and Count to Ten—

Taking a deep breath or two adds oxygen to your system, which almost instantly helps you relax. In addition, taking a moment to step back can help you maintain your composure, which in the long run, is what you need to work rationally through a stressful situation.
Start with “take a deep breath” and…

Crucial and instant help is just three numbers away

PETALING JAYA: Some people may never need to call 999 in their whole lives but in times of need, these are the three numbers that they can rely on for crucial assistance or to save lives.

The situation was true for an IT manager, who wished to be known only as Goh.

He said a 999 call saved the life of his 66-year-old mother in March.

“My mother is a diabetic and on that day, her blood sugar level dropped tremendously for unknown reasons. She was semi-conscious and did not know what was happening,” said the 33-year-old.

Although the hospital was near to his house in SS2 here, Goh could not move her out by himself and decided to call 999 for help.

Emergency call-takers and dispatchers to be trained professionally

AIDS cure may have two main pathways

WASHINGTON: Investigators are looking into two main paths toward a cure for AIDS, based on the stunning stories of a small group of people around the world who have been able to overcome the disease.

Despite progress in treating millions of people globally with  antiretroviral drugs, experts say a cure is more crucial than ever because the  rate of HIV infections is outpacing the world’s ability to medicate people.

“For every person who starts antiretroviral therapy, two new individuals  are infected with HIV,” Javier Martinez-Picado of the IrsiCaixa AIDS Research  Institute in Spain told the International AIDS Conference in Washington on  Tuesday.

Some 34 million people around the world are living with HIV, which has  caused around 30 million AIDS-related deaths since the disease first emerged in  the 1980s.

Call to boycott irresponsible traders

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Consumers were urged to use their rights to chose wisely by boycotting irresponsible traders who hiked up price following the month of Ramadan on Saturday.

State Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry director Salleh Ma'amor said the government could not take any action against unscrupulous traders now as the ceiling price for controlled items law is only enforced about a week before the Hari Raya festive.

As such, Salleh said the consumers should use their power to chose between traders who are selling at reasonable price and  staying away from irresponsible traders.

"This mechanism is more effective than enforcing the law as the traders would eventually being forced to bring down the price rather than losing everything," he said after leading his men to inspect price label display at a bazar Ramadan in Seberang Jaya.

Protect Your Children Online

Children present unique security risks when they use a computer, and need advice, guidance, and protection. Talk to your child and let him or her know you can be approached with questions about behaviors or problems encountered on the computer. Teach your child how to safely use the computer and the Internet. There are many web sites available as resources.

By taking some simple steps below, you can reduce security risks to your child:

•             Keep your computer in a central and open location in your home and be aware of other computers your child may be using.
•             Discuss and set guidelines and rules for computer use with your child. Post these rules by the computer as a reminder.
•             Use the Internet with your child. Familiarize yourself with your child's online activities and maintain a dialogue with your child about what applications they are using.
•             Implement parental control tools that are provided by some Internet Service Providers and available for purchase as separate software packages.
•             Consider using software that allows you to monitor your child's e-mail and Web traffic.

Shoplifters use foil to foil mall detectors

They noticed two women and a man, who were sitting at a cafe in the mall, exchanging items among themselves, Siow said.

Security at malls still not up to mark

PETALING JAYA: Shopping malls – the scene of several crimes in recent days – can do more to beef up security measures, an expert said.

Security Services Association president Datuk Shaheen Mirza Habib said their managements still had “that apathetic attitude” towards security despite the number of untoward incidents.

“I see this for myself when visiting some shopping malls,” he said.

“The security guards do not patrol all floors of the car park. I think some malls hire the bare minimum number of guards just for show – not for real crime prevention measures,” added the director of one of the biggest security firms in the country.

Himpunan Oren Buktikan Felda Benar

Himpunan Oren: Usaha Pembangkang Untuk Mendapat Publisiti Murah

Iran issues new oil blockade warning

DUBAI (Reuters) - Iran could prevent even "a single drop of oil" passing through the Strait of Hormuz if its security is threatened, a naval chief said on Saturday, as tensions simmer over Tehran's nuclear programme.

Mana tidaknya kerana mengikut analisis, sokongan peneroka Felda terhadap BN selepas penyenaraian semakin meningkat iaitu sehingga 85% walaupun beberapa pihak meramalkan sebaliknya.
