KUALA LUMPUR: Three men, posing as patients, went to a clinic in Jalan Bangsar here and staged a robbery.
A staff member at the clinic, Nafisah Ismail, 24, said the trio walked into the private clinic at 8.30pm yesterday and asked for dental medicine.
“I told them that this is not a dental clinic and suggested that they visit the correct one,” she said.
“When I looked back at them after a few seconds, one of them was pulling out a parang from a bag.”
The quick-thinking woman immediately darted into the X-ray room and warned two other colleagues to lock the door.
One of the suspects stood near the clinic entrance while another barged into the doctor's consultation room but left the doctor alone.
The third one grabbed a female patient by the neck and ordered her to surrender her gold ring, handbag and handphone. A male patient was told to empty his pockets after a parang was placed at his throat.
Both victims, in their 20s, lost about RM600 and personal belongings.
“They tried to break into the X-ray room but I think they gave up when their accomplice signalled them someone was coming,” Nafisah said.
Dr Lim Heng Hong said it was the third time his clinic had been robbed since it began operating over 20 years ago. It was equipped with CCTV but was faulty yesterday.
