Woman finds smartphone with its camera on inside toilet

MALACCA: A female technician found a smartphone wrapped in a piece of cloth inside a toilet cubicle, which secretly recorded toilet users.

The smartphone contained video recordings of several women answering the call of nature.

The gadget was wrapped in such a way to resemble a decorative item.

The 31-year-old technician has lodged a police report, saying that she found the smartphone on July 17 when she went to the restroom in a university here.

She said the smartphone was placed on a sink inside the toilet cubicle. It was positioned towards the toilet seat.

When she removed the gadget from its “wrapping”, she found that its camera function was switched on.

The woman immediately brought the cellphone to the attention of the university authorities.

Malacca police chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Chuah Ghee Lye said police had started investigations.

In an unrelated case, a 26-year-old mother from Cheng here lodged a police report, saying that her five-year-old daughter had been raped by a foreigner.

She alleged that the 20-something Bangladeshi, who is employed by her sister-in-law, had taken her child to his home and raped her on Wednesday night.

The daughter subsequently complained of pain in her private parts before her mother discovered what had happened.
