PETALING JAYA: An apparent suicide of a woman took a twist when the post-mortem revealed that she may have been murdered.
The 31-year-old television station employee, Sharizat Jafar, was found by her husband hanging from the bedroom fan at their apartment in Damansara Damai at about 9pm on Saturday.
Her body was sent to the Sungai Buloh Hospital.
However, the post-mortem revealed discrepancies on the wounds found on her neck and police forensic teams revisited the apartment yesterday.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Arjunaidi Mohamed, who was at the scene, said the case was still being classified as sudden death.
“We have not found any solid evidence to prove any criminal element but we are checking,” he said.
ACP Arjunaidi added that police are currently recording statements from Sharizat’s husband and neighbours.
Sharizat’s father Jafar Bakri, 60, who was at the morgue said he last saw her a month ago but did not notice anything amiss.
