Launched – fund to raise RM3mil for Gaza victims

KUALA LUMPUR: Thirty doctors will participate in the second humanitarian aid mission to Gaza next month.

Putra 1Malaysia Club president Datuk Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim said the focus would be on providing medical aid to the Palestinians.

The volunteers for the mission were responsible for their own safety and would have to sign an indemnity form, he said.

“Priority will go to volunteers who are single. This is a very dangerous mission, and even if there is a ceasefire, anything can happen,” he said at a press conference yesterday.

Abdul Azeez said an advance team would be sent into Gaza via Egypt on Dec 2 while the rest would follow on Dec 5 and return on Dec 14.

Gerakan Belia Gagasan 1Malaysia will join the mission for the first time.

In PUTRAJAYA, a fund to assist victims of the Gaza crisis has been launched to seek donations from Rela members.

1Rela-RM1-1Nyawa aims to collect RM3mil.

Rela director-general Datuk Mustafa Ibrahim said the collection was being carried out at Rela offices until Dec 15.

“This fund is not religious in nature but (it is) for everyone who wishes to help,” he said.
