S’porean held for stealing baby products

Police have arrested a Singaporean man for stealing dozens of baby products including breast pumps and feeding bottles from a shopping complex in Bukit Indah.

Nusajaya OCPD Supt Noor Hashim Muhamad said that the 23-year-old suspect was pushing his trolley full of items out of the complex when police and complex security guards detained him at 2.10pm on Tuesday.

“We recovered RM2,759 worth of unpaid baby products.” he said yesterday.

Supt Noor Hashim said that the man claimed he had bought all of the items but failed to produce a receipt.

“The suspect is currently being detained and we are also checking if he has any previous record, including in Singapore,” he said.

In an unrelated case, Supt Noor Hashim said police arrested a 32-year-old suspect believed to be a member of a car theft syndicate.

The suspect was caught travelling in a stolen Honda CRV at 12.30am on Oct 27 in Taman Bukit Indah here.

“The man tried to run away but we managed to nab him. Investigations revealed that the suspect was also involved in an attempted carjack of a Toyota Alphard in Legoland Malaysia's car park and admitted to stealing a Honda Stream at a hypermarket in Nusa Bestari recently,” he said.

The suspect also tested positive for drugs.

Police believed the syndicate was involved in at least five cases targeting mainly Japanese cars.
