Sultan: Abide by guidelines for Islamic talks

The Sultan of Terengganu, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, has reminded the people that Islamic talks or ceramah in the state without the proper guidelines are strictly prohibited.

He said such prohibition was needed in order to maintain the country's stability and prevent any confusion among the peole, especially Muslims.

“Every party must abide by the guidelines stated by the respective religious authorities in the state.

“This has been clearly stated under Section 102 of the Islamic Administrative Issues Enactment,” he said after launching the Ma'al Hijrah celebrations at Wisma Darul Iman here yesterday.

He added that only talks that have been approved by religious authorities could be held.

Tuanku Mizan also reminded the rakyat to always be united to ensure the country's continuous development and tranquillity.

“The rakyat should also be thankful that they are living in a peaceful country despite its share of problems.

“I also want to see more religious programmes held at surau or masjid as it could curb social ills,” he said.

At the same event, Tuanku Mizan presented various awards, including the Tokoh Ma'al Hijrah to former Terengganu Islamic Affairs commissioner Datuk Ismail Ali.
